  The Falesco Winery has, from the outset, been dedicated to the rediscovery and the revitalisation of the grape types traditionally cultivated on the hills around Lake Bolsena. During their research, they rediscovered a Merlot clone that had acclimatised to the terroir in Lazio as far back as the early second century AD. They used this clone to make their first vintage of Montiano in 1993, and ever since then the wine has been acclaimed as one of the very best, most innovative reds in all of Italy.
